I capture this scene quite sometimes ago in front of Klinik Jeganathan KB. This clinic is especially notable for those with 'saraf' problems so we frequently see handicapped people who should be in hospital being helped into The Clinic for treatment. Being a private clinic, facilities are basic. This clinic provide the wheelchair but it's up to the patient's family members to help manage the patient. This is one case; after getting the treatment....
ALLAAHUAKBAR ALLAAHUAKBAR ALLAAHUAKBAR
LAAILAAHA ILLALLAAHU WALLAAHU AKBAR
ALLAAHU AKBAR WALILLAAH ILHAMD
The takbir filled the atmosphere, from radio, television and the loudspeakers from nearby mosques. This is the Aidil Adha; the day of Sacrifice. This day we remember the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham a.s.; the ultimate test of Faith. Today we sacrifice lambs, cattle, even camel (imported) to commemorate the occasion. We means other people because my household did not sacrifice in this year's Eid. This year my brother-in-law sacrificed a whole cattle on his own and invited us together as guests.
The morning started with a light breakfast of Roti Jala and Nasi Himpit Kuah Kacang with satay goreng; satay made in frying pan rather than grilled over charcoal fire. To make a proper satay took much more effort and this is not that much inferior in taste. This is my wife's improvision and it's been our practice for many years now. Then we proceeded to the nearby Paya Bemban Mosque for Eid Solat. The mosque was overspilled such that the late comers had to pray on tarmac.
The as usual we visited my sister's house at Kg Khatib Ali, the house where I spent much of my growing up years, only this time the old house had made way to a new concrete double storey bungalo as preparation for the wedding of son Dr Hazmi with another doctor...
The new house is spacious and ready for the occasion on 26th December. We spent all morning there and near noon we excused ourselves for my wife's family at Pauh Lima; some 20km away.
The slaughtered cattle came after Friday prayer. It's all the family's joint efforts to divide the meat into thirds; two thirds to be given away and one third for feasting among relatives.
It was rather tiring but satisfactory. As usual the fresh meat with ribs were cooked as soup, others were grilled and fried to be eaten with white. Curry is not normally used for qorban meat. It was mostly soup or 'singgang' with lots of ginger, garlic and spice..
The next day is the day for visiting the passed away loved ones. Normally we visited the grave on early morning of Eid but since I was at Kota Bharu and the time to and fro is one and half hour plus half hour visiting, we dicided to pay our respect on the second day...
We visited In's father's grave in the afternoon as it is nearby..
Wednesday 25/11/09 I had a meeting in KL. Since 27th is Aidil Adha and I had already applied for leave on 26th, I decided to change my travel plan. Instead of going back via Terengganu (Jerangau rd closed) on wed eve, we decided to start off on 24th via KL and EW Highway (Kuala Krai - KB road closed at Sg Durian). On the way we planned to join Nana, alone from UTP Perak.
So after my meeting we were ready to move. Remembering my trusted technician at Bhg Jalan JKR Kelantan I gave him a call asking about the flood scenario. He said all major roads are now opened. So another change in plan; we finally decided to go via Spg Pulai - Lojing - GM - KB and asked Nana to meet us at our favorite strawberry shop, Cameron Hglds.
It was 6.30pm when we moved off. By then the weather started to turn misty and the road was wet. It was downhill then after Blue Valley. At some stretches the clouds are ween crossing our path and the road's visibility were severely impaired. I took the lead, frequently engaging the low gear; even 2nd and 1st for effective engine braking, always conscious Nana was behind in Ummi's Wira, hoping she doesnt get to lose patience and speed in this treacherous condition.
When we arrived at GM's surau at 8.10pm I was very relieved. After solat, we seek our favorite Restoran Kamal with it's delicious Tom Yam.. but it was closed for Eid. So, 'No rattan, root also can' says our elders. We ate at a small outlet. The food was not bad but the service was much to be desired.
My wife; In took the wheel after that... joining the procession of steady Balik Kampung Commuters.. Some impatient driverd leapfrogged the procession but we just maintain the normal pace. That's what I thought anyway because I was for most part in the dreamland. I took back the wheel near Kuala Krai. It was 1.30am in the morning when we finally arrived at Kota Bharu. However I had some important assignment to do and keep punching at my laptop. Sleep only came at 4.45am in the morning, after I had emailed the document. Next day we fasted the Sunnat Arafah. I slept much of the day but my wife In was already busy cleaning the flood infected house with the children and tidying up the house for Eid..
We've visited Paris.
WRONG. Not romantic at all.
Currently we're in Manchester, yesterdat we Raya at Prof's friend's house, Abang Eddie, in Nottingham. They're a bunch of nice people, and we've falen in love with the ukhuwah displayed.I called mama dan abah and i wanted to cry. I miss them on Raya. (Big baby)
The journey by car to Manchester was so full of shit. My legs were cramped inside the Chrsyler, and Arezahar kept tuning in to the Classicals. Zul was as steady as a rock, but then both of them began to fubmle with the heater heat.
Hazreen slept like a log, while Azuwa and Su also, slept like a log, leaving me humming to Keane's, King of Leons's, Roxette, and other cool hits the Real.FM put on. We're staying at ETap, where you could see your partner shower naked through the glass door.
Me and Hazrien woke up early to catch our morning stroll and visited Tesco for some bagels and fun.
Currently waiting for the troops to ge t ready, we're heading to Old Trafford for our stadium tour. Later, perhaps Liverpool.
Can't wait.
i am now downstairs in brunel with hazrien, waiting for the troop to ever wake up from their slumbers.
we're taking the train to Paris this morning, and hoing to spend the day over there, romancing our spirits.
Last nite, we roamed the Oxford Street but well yeah, hmm..St James Park, and what nots. photos to be updated later yah!..
Here i go again on my own!
